She does not live with her parents. Her mother, struggling to make ends meet, was unable to care for her, so she was sent to live with her aunt in a poor neighborhood. In this area, four families share a single bathing and toilet facility, and necessities like food and water are scarce. Lina’s family can barely afford two meals a day, and she lacks adequate clothing and blankets.
When Lina was identified as a beneficiary through the visitation, it was clear that she was a child in desperate need of support. Inadequate food, lack of educational resources, and an unstable living environment were severely impacting her development. She was placed in Grade 2, although she should have been in Grade 5 by her age. Her chances of progressing in school seemed slim, and the financial burden on her mother made it impossible to provide the necessary support.
Through continuous encouragement and practical assistance, such as solar lights for studying, Lina’s motivation to succeed in school grew stronger. Her academic performance began to improve significantly. Lina’s story serves as a powerful reminder of why work in the community is so important.
Calvary provided a school uniform and shoes, along with home visits that included counseling, medical check-ups, and educational support. Lina’s transformation is a testament to the power of community involvement and faith-based care.
