About the Performance
The Ensemble
Ensemble Cantate Iterum is a semi-professional ensemble of singers and instrumentalists committed to performing beloved choral and orchestral works of the Baroque and Classical eras of music.
Johann VanIttersum
Johann studied voice and choral conducting at Redeemer University and in recent years has furthered his studies with international tenor Robert MacLaren. In addition to serving as the Artistic Director of both Ensemble Cantate Iterum and Oxford Collegium Singers, semi-professional choirs based in Oxford County, Ontario, he is an accomplished chorister, soloist and teaches both at Oxford Reformed Christian and his own private studio. Johann has a deep appreciation for sacred oratorio, passion music and the English and German choral traditions.

This year's concert supports Hope Story's effort to provide solar lights for children living in communities where electricity is unreliable.
For many of us, turning on a light is something we rarely think about.
But for children living in communities with limited access to reliable electricity, darkness can mean the end of learning for the day. Homework is interrupted. Reading becomes difficult. Daily tasks that many of us take for granted become much harder.
This year, Hope Story's Messiah concert will help support the distribution of solar lights, providing children and families with a practical resource that can extend learning opportunities and bring greater safety and independence after sunset.
